The Role
Reporting to the CFO, the Group Accountant will oversee financial reporting, compliance, and financial controls across multiple entities. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional with strong technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB).
- Manage BAS, tax filings, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Improve month-end close processes and financial controls.
- Ensure ATO compliance and implement tax-effective strategies.
- Oversee GST, FBT, Payroll Tax, and WorkCover obligations.
- Manage ASIC filings and corporate governance requirements.
- Maintain accurate financial records and risk management.
- Identify and implement efficiency improvements in financial processes.
- Manage investment property accounting, rental income, and land tax compliance.
- Oversee asset management and depreciation schedules.
- Work closely with the CFO, external accountants, and tax advisors.
- Provide financial insights to business stakeholders.
- Minimum 5 years of financial accounting experience, ideally in group accounting or professional services/tax.
- CA or CPA qualified (or near completion).
- Strong knowledge of AASB, Corporations Law, and ATO regulations.
- Proficiency in MYOB, Xero, or similar accounting software.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail and stakeholder management skills.
